***News June 2018***

We had another good turnout and a warm welcome at The Turnpike Pub last Saturday. Cledford area was the focus of our efforts and as usual the team filled many bags for Ansa to collect 😊

We also had a new member who is definitely set to be a star litter picker! Evie Moores age 7 took it upon herself to litter pick St Ann's Road and the park on Stallard Way 😍

Regardless of a few older children laughing at her efforts she carried on and did a fantastic job! Thank you Evie! 💚

***Latest News***

Summer is here and we are having an amazing Clean Team year so far 😍

Since the start of the year we've been doing our usual twice monthly group litter picks and welcoming lots of new members to the team....fantastic! 💚

Our star planters Darren Ketley and Vicky Perez have been working wonders with Katy's Wall. We were kindly donated some plants by Arley Hall too 👍 Darren is also doing a brilliant job keeping Southway looking clean and tidy 😊

There have also been lots of fund raising achievements too!
We would like to say a big thanks to all the Middlewich Labour group for the very generous donation raised at their Rock The Vote music event back in April!
They presented the money to us during our litter pick meeting at Starbucks a few weeks ago.
We've had money raised by the Run Middlewich group/sports massage and sponsorships for Hilary and Maxine for running the 5k event.
Newton Brewery also had their very own Bake off and we were the lucky charity to benefit this time....thank you to all the staff and customers involved! 💚

We have 4 more group litter picks before the summer break and of course FAB festival to look forward too! All members are encouraged to wear their high vis clean team vests and muck in keeping the event litter free as and when they feel they can help 👍😎

15TH-17TH JUNE FAB FESTIVAL  - ALL HELP GRATEFULLY RECEIVED

Upcoming group litter pick Monday 21st Morrisons, Rose Fete and Mexon Market Right Royal Street Party on Saturday

We have a busy Royal weekend on Saturday starting with the Right Royal Street party during the Mexon Market on Wheelock Street 10am - 3pm. Plus it's also Middlewich Rose Fete and Children's Festival on Market Field 11am - 4pm 👪

Rose Queen and clean team member Amelia Jones wants to make sure that the Market Field is litter free following the festival so we'd really appreciate it if any members can turn up to lend a hand 4pm - 5pm 💚

If anyone has any spare time at all during both events then please feel free to wander about litter picking and looking after our lovely town 👏

We also have our group litter pick on Monday starting at Morrisons car park 2pm followed by refreshments provided by Danielle the Morrisons Community Champion on behalf of Morrisons at 3pm 💚🍰🍵

We look forward to seeing you all 🌞

Maxine and Hilary Complete The Middlewich 5K Run

The first ever Middlewich 5K (3 miles) run took place this morning and two of our members took part, in support of Middlewich Clean Team of course. Maxine and Hilary found themselves some sponsors and then all they had to do was turn up and run!

The unfavourable weather forecast proved true with a wet start; the rain poured down but as Hilary said, “It was better than trying to run in the blistering heat we had only a few days ago”.

The course ran from the Big Lock and along the canal in the Sandbach direction until just past the dry dock. There the path loops back on itself providing the turning point back to the Big Lock.

After the Big Lock the runners headed for Middlewich Cricket Club via Croxton Park and Croxton Lane, then at the cricket club the run finished with two circuits of the grounds. Maxine and Hilary were not the first to finish but they were not the last either, finishing 16th & 17th in their class with a matched time of 42 minutes and 10 seconds.

All runners completing the course were rewarded with a medal which Maxine and Hilary were rightfully pleased to show off.

The run itself was sponsored by Revelation Properties and there had also been Family Run prior to that which was sponsored by Harvester and Fizzy Eds.

Maxine and Hilary were impressed with how well organised it all seemed to be and of course we must also mention other Middlewich Clean Members that were on duty to clear up any litter.
