Middlewich Clean Team Become Media Stars Again

The Middlewich Clean Team is to play a starring role in a new ITV1 documentary to be televised in the spring. On Saturday, 10th November, 35 members of the Team turned out on a litter pick and were filmed by Media Company Wall to Wall for a new primetime programme provisionally called “Get Up and Give”

Programme researcher Rachel Ozers said, ‘The idea is to follow certain individuals and showcase interesting projects, big fundraisers, local community projects and meaningful charitable work, in the hope of encouraging more people to do the same sort of thing wherever they are in the UK. The focus is inspirational individuals – whether they are volunteers, fundraisers, or even staff members – who dedicate their lives to making other people’s better. We were looking at individuals and organisations across the country who throw their hearts and souls into going the extra mile to help people in their communities and Janet Chisholm and the Middlewich Clean Team were exactly the sort of example we were looking for.’

Filming our Chairperson, Janet Chisholm, at home and around town kept her busy all day. In the afternoon we were filmed on a regular litter pick and then some of the Committee were interviewed individually. The litter pick resulted in 16 full bags of litter and the town was left sparkling for the Remembrance Day Parade and Service which took place the following day.

This follows on from this year‘s features in the Daily Mail, Granada Reports and on local radio. The Home Office and the Cabinet Office consider our group to be a National role model for a community organisation. As a consequence we spend quite a lot of time advising other communities up and down the Country on how to set up a clean team
